Is Working Online At Home The Next Gold Rush Scam?

Smells like total scam to me. I looked and I’m sure you looked too.  These websites have been popping up all over the place promising you easy fast cash from posting links to Google. With so many unweb savy people out of work and these sites just screaming Make Money in Your Sleep, no wonder so many people get caught up in it. I really hate things like this. If making $5000 a month was as easy as posting links on Google, don’t you think everyone would be doing it AND raving about it. I mean how many mailing lists are you on?

I can’t help but wonder how many people are handing over their credit card numbers to these people?

By taking a closer look at the websites we can pick up some tell tale signs that scream total scam, hide your credit card and RUN. I like this suggestion from “Strangely” on this Google Forum

EVERYONE!   Just tell everyone you know, at the soonest opportunity, to get the hell away from anything that looks like this or sounds like this.  If you see a (Advertising AdWords ect) link, click it like mad and burn up their adsense funding.

 Yea! That will learn them!

Someone in Las Vegas, if  indeed that is really where this is located, is making alot of money.

Here is a list of sites and what I found after further investigation:

(Note: After these sites are busted, they will be pulled down)

UPDATE: Indeed most sites listed below have been pulled!!

If you look on the top left corner for the site above you see The Cody, Wy Local News …  The script changes demographics, depending on the area in which you live.  Also if you where to click on the links below the heading of these fake web sites, they of course go no where.  Because it’s a fake site.

Read all the glorious testomonials at the bottom:

StylishG says:

hey this *@# was so easy?I still can’t believe it?hahaha I love this stuff I’m never workin a real job again!

John L says:

Saw this blog a few months back. Just wanted to let you know how thankful I am. I just got a check for very close to $15,000 from Google. At first I was submitting the links myself, now I’m hiring others to do it for me and making a killing.

At the end of this – and most – of these scammy websites, you will find:

Comments Closed Due To Spam (back soon)

The true reason the comment section was closed is to keep the ‘real’ people from telling others how they where ripped off and to stay away from these scams.

And then a little further down the  page’:

*INCOME CLAIM WARNING: Testimonials do not result typical result. Photographs or images are depiction (notice the word DEPICTION) of individuals and payment methods. These income examples are representative of some of the most successful participants in the program

Mary on Tribune News (Which.. I repeat… does NOT exist and is NOT a newspaper)

This site directs you to a Cash Secret Club like this one:

 http://rs933.cashsecretclub.com/?subid=65000

2009-05-25_0928

A little different with the terms and services than Google Fast Cash but no address is given. Again  like the prior example – the seller is located in Las Vegas, NV.

UPDATE-  I received an email from a woman who fell for this ‘easy money’ who stated her credit card was billed $72.69 from the UK.

And this is supposed to cost $1.95 for just shipping? So read the fine print CAREFULLY folks.

http://www.seattlechroniclenews.com/terms.html

Terms & Services:

If you have not cancelled the free bonus within the 7 day trial period (if offered on product purchasing), you are agreeing to purchase the bonus material and/or service at a monthly reoccurring cost. The resource center is billed at $81.32 monthly.

Not cancelling trial programs constitutes authorization, by you, the buyer, for any charges (as outlined) for the associated bonus service until your request to cancel has been received by our customer service staff. By not cancelling the bonus program during the trial period or prior to two days before a scheduled billing cycle, you agree that any reoccurring charges billed to you will be non-refundable.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

When you preauthorize charges to your debit or credit card there is little you can do when disputing them. There are so many people getting caught up in these schemes that financial institutions are making disputing charges more difficult and costly. Most financial institutions are making you responsible for the first $50 because when giving out your information online you are indeed AUTHORIZING these and any other future charges. In some cases you will have to cancel your card completely!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

If you are seriously looking for a way out of your current economic situation, you should consider cash gifting. With cash gifting, you can help yourself get through these tough economic times and at the same time help others by sending cash gifts. USA Citizens only.

This works folks! 2010 Blessings – Cash Gifting America

I really enjoyed reading your articles. Hope to get back here again and read some more.

ye its all a buntch of bullshit folks dont get this shit you do better using the shipping and handling charge to go get you an ice cream slushy.

  6. Sonia says:

    Mary on Tribune News:

When I first came across that above article, it listed “Mary” as being from my city (Raymondville, Tx.) so I think it targets you using your local area as place of residence for the person they’re featuring, therefore making it more believable.

It’s a shame that the only ones here making $5,000 a month are the people who are scamming good people looking for honest work to enable them to spend more time with their families.

    Thanks for the great tips!

the saddest part is, when researching, “Is Working Online At Home The Next Gold Rush?”…. i didnt find this site until the 3rd search page…meaning; there were 20+ links playing into this scam to begin with….

my skepticism is the only reason i found a site clearly stating it was a scam…imagine all the people that scrolled down to find a sea of links and decided right then that this whole concept is legitimate

  8. valiba says:

How come Google doesn’t go after them for using thier name?

  9. Rae says:

I am such an idiot as I actually tried doing this..I paid my stupid $2.95 for the CD and then just this morning my account was hit for another $81.32…I called them and they said I agreed to the terms and conditions..BUT they don’t show you those when you are purchasing…I have reported them to the BBB but I doubt it will do any good.

  10. eva says:

I registered yesterday… I am now trying to cancel everything. The Grant Site’s phone number is intentionally making you wait too long so you lose your patience and hang up. The pauses between the automated prompts take too long so some may assume that they have been disconnected. A customer representative answered the phone and claimed that her computer is not working and promises to call back. I asked for her information; let’s see is she “calls back after she fixes her computer”.

  11. eva says:

Ok, they did call me back… I cancelled that subscription and the CS rep provided me with a contact number to cancel my subscription for Network Agenda which is open only M-F.

  12. Diggin It Digital says:

    Hi Eva

    Thanks for sharing.

Be sure to keep a close eye on your Debit or Credit card for your refund to ensure that it is honored. I would also keep and eye out for any additional charges in the future. If you are charged anything in the future you will need to dispute the charges with your Debit/Credit card company.

  13. Marina says:

Someone hacked into my friend’s facebook account. She’s studying in UC Davis. And it so happened that messages were sent from her account to other people’s account about this thing, as if it came from her.

From the screenshot you have of the woman with her kid up there, it says her name is Mary XXXX from San Jose, CA.

Well, this morning when I opened the link, this same woman is called Stephanie Lopez, from Champaign, IL. And that’s because I’m studying in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign!

It sounded so real, and for graduate students who are almost always living on a tight budget, we are an easy target. And the reason why I almost fell for it is because I have faith in Google for many many years. I’ve got all sorts of accounts with Google, From email, to Blogger, to iGoogle etc.

Gosh. I just hope somebody can put a stop to this. Hasn’t Google done anything about it?

  14. Marlene Miller says:

I wish I had found this site before I believed what I thought was a “real” local news article and signed up for a “Google Profits Kit”. Bottom line: after spending the better part of a day trying to cancel the order, I ended up cancelling my credit card. Thank you for creating this site. I’ve bookmarked it.

  15. Amras says:

Thanks for posting! I almost fell for this but lucky me I read an article on google’s adsense blog warning about this type of scams and easy money schemes.

I think Sonia is right about this “Mary” on “Tribune news” it sort of targets your city. Mine said “mary” was from Heredia, that is all the way down here in Costa Rica, so I was like wtf theres a city in the states called heredia?

    Anyway thanks!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Happy to see that there are blog owners that worry about their blogs and not post all kind of unuseable stuff but rather try to maintain it clean and precious for the interest of their visitors. You’ve done a good job and i thank you for that and as well for not shocking me with unuseable garbage and spam.Thank You

  20. I usually don?t post in Blogs but your blog forced me to, amazing work.. beautiful ?

  21. Geneva Pel says:

Hello, how are you? I really like your blog! I was wondering if u might help me (I am positive some other subscribers may also be interested). I would also like to get into blogging also and I at the moment have a blog with wordpress, but it is quite confusing for me to use and I would very much like to attempt to find several good training materials or courses (preferably free) that can hopefully assist me in using Word Press correctly. As a Word Press site owner yourself, do you perhaps know where i can learn tutorials to do this myself?? Thank you
